Creede, CO

Creede, CO

Distance from Denver: 253 Miles

GPS coordinates for dispersed camping: 37.798045, -106.813445

Area Amenities: Average - small grocery stores, some decent restaurants, and several gas stations. You’re also close enough to South Fork if you need a larger store.

Area Activities: Many (mostly outdoor) - Bachelor loop, Fish Creek Falls, Wheeler Geologic Area, Mining Musem

Cost: Free! There is free camping in BLM land on Pooltable Road. We have stayed at the RV park - Mountain Views at Rivers Edge before. It is very pricey, but a nice park. Excellent gawking opportunities if you want to see some ritzy RVs.

Big Camper Friendly? Yes - can easily find spots that will accommodate a 40 foot + trailer with somewhat low clearance.

Ease of finding a spot? I would try to arrive early in the day on Friday if you’re looking for a spot on Pooltable Road. We didn’t find the road very crowded, but it would be best to arrive early to make sure you can get a level spot.

Liz Rating: 5/5. Beautiful area, not too busy, good restaurants. The riding here isn’t great, but it’s still scenic.

Cell service?: Verizon is spotty. Good service in town, not on Pooltable Rd.

Free, dispersed camping on Pooltable Road right before entering Creede. This is a big 5th wheel - 40’+ campers are easy to accommodate here. Had we known this area existed, we would never have paid for a site in town.

We enjoy visiting Creede once a year if our schedules allow. It’s a beautiful area and isn’t too busy (relative to the rest of the state). There is some good (easy) riding nearby at Wheeler Geologic Area and on Bachelor Loop. Easy access to waterfalls, mines, and cute towns makes Creede one of our favorites.

https://www.creede.com/ - The city of Creede’s website has great info for visiting town, Bachelor Loop, and Wheeler Geologic Area.
