Taylor Park, CO

Distance from Denver: 156 miles IF going over Cottonwood Pass - check trailer restrictions. 240 miles if going through Gunnison.

GPS coordinates for dispersed camping: 38.855934, -106.541224 (Off-road 742C - plenty of spots, a little rocky getting in). There are also more spots down the canyon road (virtually unlimited). We will be making that trip the weekend of Aug. 13th and posting the GPS after.

Area Amenities: not many, be sure to stop in Gunnison or Buena Vista on the way in.

Area Activities: Many (mostly outdoor) - Cottonwood pass to Buena Vista, great riding (single track and OHV routes), and Taylor Reservoir

Cost: Free! There is free camping in BLM land

Big Camper Friendly? Yes - can easily find spots that will accommodate a 40 foot + trailer with somewhat low clearance. There are some rocky spots in the road, but it was nothing the camper couldn’t easily manage.

Ease of finding a spot? This area fills up quickly, but there are a lot of spots. I don’t think you’d have a hard time squeezing in somewhere.

Liz Rating: 5/5. Beautiful area, close to Gunnison, Cottonwood Pass will connect you to Buena Vista.

Cell service?: No Verizon service at the campsite the last time I was here. Some service near the reservoir.
