Lizard Head Pass is a stunning pass just outside of Telluride, Colorado. If you’ve been through Telluride, you know that the town itself is pretty small and there aren’t many campgrounds… especially not affordable campgrounds.
We discovered Lizard Head Pass several years ago when we came for the 4th of July weekend. If you do plan on camping here with a sizeable trailer, I recommend arriving on a Thursday night OR early Friday morning. While there is a lot of space, if you are towing a large trailer, you may need to get more ‘off-roady’ than you would like. Keep in mind that there are no hookups here. You can certainly run your generator during the day to charge your batteries, but we didn’t hear any going at night.
